All of the following drawings were done based on the exercises in a really great book. If you are interested in learning how to draw from a very low skill level, this is a great place to start:
These four hand drawings were done based on one of the exercises in this book.
The next two were drawn by holding the original piece upside down and copying it as best I could:
Original: Pablo Picasso - 'Portrait of Igor Stravinsky' |
Original: Unknown German Artist - Unknown |
This is a drawing of the hallway outside my apartment. Exercise in perspective drawing.
Here is another perspective drawing. This one is a two point perspective I believe I'm not crazy about the contents of the room on the left. I don't think they came out as good as the doors themselves. Still a great exercise.
This is my first attempt at a portrait in profile. I copied this one from a book, but I plan on doing my next one with a live model. Most likely my roommate Jimmy. He's gonna hate it.
Original: John Singer Sargent - Preliminary sketch for 'Madame X' |
Here are some preliminary sketches of an upcoming comic. Gonna be super funny.
Preview of upcoming comic. This is one of my favorite things I have drawn so far.
1 and 2-Cool! I'm not going down that hall and I'm sure not going in that room. Great detail...been near a big pothole recently?
ReplyDeleteHaha, I can neither confirm nor deny that. Glad you liked them!
ReplyDeleteCan see how the artist picks up the essence of a subject...can see the intensity and control that your roommate is emitting in the tautness of the face and jaw, his haircut too...I can actually hear him screaming...So compelling and honest...does he see this or does he look for the reflect he is intending to show the world?
ReplyDeleteNever really understood why the artist's rendering of a subject could be so revealing. Cool!
Glad you liked it! He was a good sport to sit for that. Luckily I was able to catch him while he was watching TV haha.
DeleteLove the guy and the floatee. The face of the guy vs the face of the floatee are such a contrast...does he ave a bag over his head or is that his face? Excellent!
